Peter Marshall Steel Stairs delivered a cantilevered steel staircase as part of the construction of a new state-of-the-art sixth form block.
The new building is being constructed in Northamptonshire for the Kettering Science Academy. Compromising of three floors, including classrooms, a dining and common room, study spaces, library, café, lecture theatre and a full-height light-filled atrium.
Despite the difficulties posed by Covid-19 the project was completed in 62 weeks. Although there were national shortages of brick and mortar during construction, the project kept moving forward.
Everyone in the supply chain, and the local community, was committed to delivery. This involved senior members of the Brooke Weston Trust, construction company Wilmott Dixon, Northants County Council and senior staff from the school.
Features of the building include a 50-seater lecture theatre, a study area, which overlooks the grass playing field to the rear, and socialising space with soft seating and recycling facilities.
Peter Marshall Steel Stairs supplied a cantilevered steel staircase comprising 4 flights and 2 half landings.
