Stanhope House
Stanhope House is a £17m commercial development in Portsmouth that is designed as student accommodation.
The project consists of a 19 storey tower, which is located near the University campus. It is being transformed into a 256 bed building for students, with additional on-site facilities. Crosslane / RGB Group is the main contractor and the building is being designed by Maith design. The new development is one of the tallest buildings in the city, and its exciting new design will transform the Portsmouth skyline.
Located on the corner of Commercial Road, it is adjacent to the central shopping district. It is also opposite the mainline train station of Portsmouth and Southsea. Stanhope House is also less than a mile from Portsmouth University student union building, and the University library. This makes it ideal for students, while also providing them with good amenities and transport links.
The development will offer both bedrooms and studio apartments, as well as retail space on the ground and first floor.
Each room will be en-suite and include a study area and free Wi-Fi. The kitchen clusters also offer students a chance to socialise and hang out with friends, and they are also fully equipped with washing machine and drying facilities. Other features include secure door entry, printing services and a common room.
Peter Marshall Steel Stairs supplied stairs in the concrete core, half landings, vertical infill balustrades and a wall mounted handrail.
