Elland Road, Leeds
A redevelopment of Elland Road included Peter Marshall Steel Stairs designing, supplying and installing steel stairs for Caddick Construction.
The £7.5 redevelopment of the Leeds United East Stand, at the Elland Road football stadium, will increase the size of the stand and hospitality. The project involves the installation of 20 new executive boxes and an increased concourse size for fans. This is being achieved by reconfiguring the upper tier of the East Stand, in order to create a new Executive Box level.
Other facilities include new dining and kitchen facilities, as well as a general spectator upper concourse. A new reception area is also included as well as a brand new club museum. The redevelopment was designed by KSS Design Group and Caddick Construction are the main contractor.
The new development will not only increase the corporate and hospitality areas for match days, it will also improve its use for business conferences and events. As the work takes place as part of an existing stand, the upper area was closed, but fans could still access the lower tier. Special consideration will be made throughout the redevelopment phase, so that there is as little disruption to the club during match fixtures and event as possible.
Caddick Construction has carried out other work at Elland Road in the past. Over the years they have been involved with various projects at Leeds United, including the design and construction of a new banquet, conferencing and exhibition space. They also built the club’s training facility at Thorp Arch, which is just north of Leeds.
As part of the East Stand redevelopment, Peter Marshall Steel Stairs supplied a full service package to Caddick Construction. This involved the design, detail, fabrication, delivery and installation of three sets of steel stairs at Elland Road. The stairs produced provide access to the new concourse levels within the East Stand, for the Executive and Hospitality facilities.
