Peter Marshall Steel Stairs is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the internal steel stair package contract as part of the redevelopment of 65 Gresham Street in the City of London. The award further strengthens Peter Marshall Steel Stairs’ portfolio of complex commercial stair projects across the UK.

This project forms part of a commercial redevelopment within the City, transforming the existing office building to provide upgraded workspace across multiple upper levels, alongside the addition of new floors through a vertical extension.

The scheme will deliver approximately 36,800 m² of Grade A office, retail and ancillary space and is targeting net zero carbon in operation alongside a BREEAM Outstanding rating. New internal stair cores are being introduced as part of the building’s overall circulation strategy.

The project is being delivered by main contractor Mace, with architectural design by Squire & Partners and structural steel contractor William Hare, with Peter Marshall Steel Stairs engaged to deliver the internal stair cores.

The project involves integrating new stair structures into an existing building undergoing extension, requiring integration with the existing frame and new structural elements introduced as part of the extension.

Our scope of work includes the design, detailing, manufacture and delivery of three multi-flight stair cores spanning Levels 8 to 12 within the existing structure. The staircases comprise between six and eight flights per core, incorporating both straight and radiused landings, with fabricated plate treads and landings supported by secondary steelwork. All elements are being supplied as built-up welded assemblies with a primer-painted finish. The stair cores are being fabricated with supporting SHS and UB steelwork incorporated into each assembly, designed to suit transport and site handling requirements.

Work commenced on site in May 2026, with overall project completion expected in 2028, forming part of the phased delivery of the development.
