We successfully manufactured and installed steel stairs for the Rolls Royce factory in Derby.
As part of a new factory facility for Rolls Royce, Peter Marshall Steel Stairs have successfully manufactured and installed steel staircases, balustrades and metalwork packages.
Clegg Construction were hired to construct a new state of art Apprentice Academy, at Rolls Royce’s headquarters in Derby. The facility gives Rolls Royce the capacity to double the number of apprentices it trains in precision engineering. Additional engineers will be able to find work in the supply chain, providing skilled labour to the UK engineering and manufacturing industries.
The new 3 storey Rolls Royce Apprentice Academy is an extension of the main training facility. It includes a 1,200 square metre workshop, with the latest machinery so apprentices are using the same equipment as fully qualified engineers. The workshop can be used to create examples of specific environments, such as an assembly line. This allows the teaching space to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Rolls Royce offers its apprentices a range of opportunities, in a variety of different roles. By working closely with higher education institutions, they are dedicated to creating rewarding jobs that align with industry requirements. Apprentices will also have the opportunity to learn about the latest technology, such as the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 aero engine, which powers the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
BSP Consulting worked closely with Rolls-Royce, Frank Shaw Associates and Clegg Construction to translate Rolls-Royce’s design concepts into an affordable and deliverable project. One of the challenges on the project was the building was being built on the footprint of an existing demolished office building. Disruption to employees and visitors was minimised by working closely with the client and careful project management.
Construction comprised of a traditional steel frame on piled concrete pad foundations. As part of the construction Peter Marshall Steel Stairs manufactured and installed steel staircases, balustrades and metalwork packages for the building.
