Goole Business Hub

GOOLE

The Goole business hub, located at Goole 36 enterprise zone, is aimed at accelerating the adoption of technology within the rail industry. As part of the development, Peter Marshall Steel Stairs are supplying an internal feature stair and radiused landings.

The contractor, Willmott Dixon, was chosen to build the innovative site, known as the Rail Accelerator and Innovation Solutions Hub for Enterprise (RaisE). The construction of the project was carried out in partnership with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Infrastructure and Facilities team.

The RaisE project provides 3,200 square metres of commercial floor space. It will also include office and workshop accommodation, modern conference and meeting rooms, as well as break out areas and free onsite parking for occupants and visitors.

As part of phase one, Peter Marshall Steel Stairs supplied an internal feature stair of 4 flights and 2 radiused landings. RaisE is a collaboration between public sector, industry and academia, which includes the University of Birmingham. Grant money was also secured, including £1.5m from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and £1m from the Getting Building Fund, via the Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

The University of Birmingham is home to the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education. This is Europe’s largest university-based specialist railway research, education and innovation centre. It provides world-class research, education, and innovation to the global railway industry. RaisE provides engineers, academics and industry experts with an office base on the first floor of the new business centre.

A second construction phase is being added to RaisE, on the same site. This will be a £50m centre of excellence for rail and research and innovation. This is being developed between Siemens Mobility and the University of Birmingham.

Both phases, in conjunction with the £200m Siemens Mobility manufacturing facility, will help create a ‘Rail Village’ concept that will attract further added value activity from the wider supply chain.
