Aldi Regional Distribution Centre, Darlington
Aldi has extended its regional distribution centre Darlington site, with the creation of nearly 8,000 square metres of chiller and freezer space. In addition, they have increased the office space and included additional wagon docking bays on site. The development also includes a new two storey car park along with an extended goods out apron.
Aldi has said the growth of their distribution was an important step to be able to meet rising demand from customers. It will also move the company towards its goal of opening more than 100 new stores across the region. This would lead to an increase in jobs and deliver an economic boost to the town.
The extension of this distribution centre is just the latest for Aldi. It has seen growth across the UK and during 2023 it expected to open, on average, a new store every week. As part of the extension in Darlington, Peter Marshall Steel Stairs provided the plant platform and steel stairs for the regional distribution centre.
